The United States has finished their presidential election on 20 January 2021 with Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. or Joe Biden has been officially sworn in as the 46th president of the United States. After Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th US President, he issued 17 executive orders, presidential memoranda, and agency directives with the essence as follows: 1) Appoint Jeffrey D.Zients to serve as coordinator of the COVID-19 response and counselor to the president, and to restore the implementation of the White House’s National Security Council focusing on global health security and biodefense; 2) To enforce rules requiring all persons entering federal sites to wear masks and maintain social distancing rules following the suggestion of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It is the further actions adding from begging Americans to wear masks for 100 days (a 100 days masking challenge) and the regulation of the CDC, which issued a mask-wearing rule on U.S. airlines and public transportation and compel people to do social distancing; 3) Stops the United States' withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO), with Dr. Anthony Fauci becoming the head of the delegation to the WHO to plan for the COVID-19 pandemic; 4) Resolve the Migrant workers problems; 5) Rejoin the Paris Climate Accord, which is agreement under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) aimed to set international rules for resolving climate change; 6) Revoke the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, which is the added part of the former Keystone pipeline because it affects the environment and climate change; 7) Oppose discrimination against LGBTQ people by enforcing more stringent law following Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, which is Equal Employment Opportunity; 8) Provide a policy to eliminate racism in  the federal bureaucracy and direct the government agencies to review and report on equity in their ranks within 200 days; 9) Extend the suspension of federal student loan payments; 10) Extend foreclosure moratoriums for federally guaranteed mortgages; 11) To restore and maintain trust in the government, President Joe Biden has ordered all of his appointees in the executive branch to sign an ethics pledge; 12) Halt Trump's midnight regulations.

Moreover, President Joe Biden has to accelerate action such as urgent distribution of 100 million doses of the vaccine within 100 days, business crisis, unemployment, the minimum wage hike, relief plans, and setting the massive budget to stimulate the economy, the economic and infrastructure package called Build Back Better Plan, trade war, Buy American campaign (bringing awareness to the American consumer and encouraging them to consider buying products), racism problem, Foreign Affairs, etc. Many sectors forecast a gradual recovery in consumption and travel in the United States. The US economic recovery will benefit the global economy because the United States is the world’s major importer of goods and services, as a result, Thailand's goods exports to the US are likely to increase as well.

Overall, the new US government with President Joe Biden leading will be the hope for global economic recovery. It is expected to increase the opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs in increasing their exports to the US especially food and beverage products and consumer goods. Besides, the export of Thai automotive and auto parts products will have more opportunity to expand the market due to the increase of the US travel trends, especially in the upcoming summer. Moreover, the new US government’s policies support electric vehicle usages in state agencies, resulting in many US car entrepreneurs expedite to import auto parts. However, Thai entrepreneurs should focus on developing new products to meet the needs of consumers in the US market.

The Thai Rubber Association hopes that the new US government will be the hope for global economic recovery with sustainability.
