The current committee of the Thai Rubber Association has been in charge of the operation since 2019. The operation of the committee is based upon the following principles: 1) to operate on the principle of transparency and good governance; 2) to corporate with government agencies and private sector both at local and international level; 3) to cherish close relationships with other rubber producing countries, particularly in Asia; 4) to act as a central body between rubber producers and users including finding the solutions to problems arising in rubber business for the mutual benefit of both; 5) to build corporation and relationship among association members for sustainable development of the rubber industry; 6) to ensure that the members are promptly informed of all the news and information; 7) to build a good image for the association to be locally and internationally recognized as well as to promote a good image of Thai natural rubber as a whole in the world market.

The committee is pleased and highly honored that all members trust our team in leading such an internationally significant private rubber organization. We have continuously improved the operation and developed human resources to serve as representatives of the association and to give good services to the members in an efficient and prompt manner for the highest satisfaction of every member. The committee is highly dedicated to the association operation, with the support from all the members, giving success to all activities of the association. Throughout the operation, the current committee and staff represented the association in several meetings, seminars, and conferences to voice opinions, solutions, and measures to the government agencies as well as the private sector. In cooperation with government agencies, TRA act as a member of the Committee on Natural Rubber Policy, and Sub-Committee on the 20-Year Rubber Development Strategy. In cooperation with the private sector, TRA is a member of the Thai Chamber of Commerce's Committee on Key Plants of Economic Importance. TRA also acts as a member of the Committee on Rubber and Rubber Wood Cluster under the Federation of Thai Industries. Additionally, TRA is a Trade Environment Committee under the Thai National Shipper’s Council. In terms of product standards, TRA acts as a member of the Committee on Consideration of Agricultural Product Standard for Natural Rubber and Rubber Products under National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards, Committee on Natural Rubber and Rubber products under Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI). On the research front, TRA also serves as a member of the Expert Group of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). In addition, the Thai Rubber Association also acts as a member of the Committee on Southern Region Research Network under the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). Another activity is to participate in seminars as a speaker under the main topic of the Thailand rubber industry both in local and international stages to make suggestions and policies, and report up-to-date rubber news and information to TRA members. In this regard, committee members of the Thai Rubber Association were nominated the Board of Directors (BoD) of the International Rubber Consortium Limited (IRCo) and executive committee of the International Tripartite Rubber Council (ITRC). Additionally, we are executive committee members of the International Rubber Association (IRA) and member of ASEAN Rubber Business Council (ARBC).

TRA committee, sub-committee, and staff have implemented activities as well as coordinated with related agencies in both local and international level to solve members’ problems in various significant issues as followed; 1) Solution to the problem of smell from rubber business operation; 2) Establishing practices for paying additional CESS; 3) Resolving the restriction issue on goods movement due to the COVID-19 outbreak; for example, push goods import and export permits through the Padang Besar border crossing point, facilitating rubber transport in and out of Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, and truck permission to transport rubber to the Phuket Deep Sea Port for export; and 4) Resolving the temporary closure of rail transit services to Malaysia, etc.

In conclusion, all the activities above are an important part of the country’s natural rubber development on the right path. On behalf of the Thai Rubber Association committee, I wish to thank all members and sectors concerned for the support and cooperation in the development of the association to achieve continued success.
